Özet:

Geçmişten bugüne hem yaşadıkları coğrafyada hem de çeşitli sebeplerle göç ettikleri coğrafyalarda kendi kültürünü yaşatan ve başka toplumların kültürlerinden etkilenen Türk toplumu köklü bir geçmişe sahiptir. Bu sebeple hayatlarının her alanına yansıyan bu zenginlik, birçok alanda kendini göstermiştir. Mutfağı, mimarisi, müziği, halk oyunları, sporu bu zenginlikten nasibini almıştır. Topraklarımız üzerindeki şehirler buna şahit olmuştur. At ve ata ait her şey yüzyıllar boyunca gelişerek Anadolu topraklarına kadar gelmiştir. Zaman içerisinde ata olan ihtiyacın azalmasıyla bu kültür büyük oranda zayıflamıştır. Günümüzde köklü ailelerin çiftliklerinin dışında özel at çiftlikleri, kulüpler ve belediyelerin geleneksel spor merkezlerinde at yetiştiriciliği ve binicilik eğitimleri devam etmektedir. Bu makalede geleneksel sporlarımızdan atçılığın Gaziantep şehrimizdeki tarihi, önemi ve etkilerine yer verilmektedir. Atçılık sporunun Gaziantep’te geçmişten bugüne nasıl bir süreç yaşadığı ve bu süreçte atçılık sporunun hangi noktaya geldiği tartışılmıştır.

The History of Traditional Equestrian Sports in Gaziantep

Abstract:

The Turkish society, which has kept its own culture alive and has been influenced by the cultures of other societies both in the geography they live in and in the geographies they migrated to for various reasons, has a deep-rooted past. For this reason, this richness, which is reflected in every aspect of their lives, has shown itself in many areas. Their cuisine, architecture, music, folk dances, and sports have all had their share of this richness. The cities on our lands have witnessed this. Horses and everything related to horses have developed over the centuries and have reached Anatolian lands. Over time, this culture has weakened to a great extent as the need for horses has decreased. Today, horse breeding and riding training continue in private horse farms, clubs, and traditional sports centers of municipalities, apart from the farms of established families. This article covers the history, importance, and effects of horsemanship as one of our traditional sports, in the Gaziantep city. It discusses how horsemanship has gone through a process in Gaziantep from the past to the present and where horsemanship has reached during this process.
